Scientist (f/m/d) Computational Cancer Genomics 

 

CureVac Netherlands B.V. is searching for an accountable, multitalented scientist with strong expertise in cancer genomics and computational biology.

The newly established and highly innovative Antigen Discovery and Validation Center is located in Amsterdam and encompasses a multi-disciplinary team

of genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology and immunology experts.
The primary goal of the team is the identification of cancer antigens as targets for various off-the-shelf and  personalized vaccine programs.

Further efforts are aimed at broadening the profiling of tumor samples and the tumor micro-environment using a diverse array of omics technologies complemented with immunology assays. Our new scientist will work under the guidance of Senior Director Antigen Discovery and Validation.

 

What you will do:

 

  • Identify and validate cancer antigens using a broad range of omics and immunological data sources
  • Take the lead in mining cancer omics datasets, including genome sequencing, RNA-seq, proteomics, immunopeptidomics or complex immunological data
  • Develop omics analysis pipelines, further validate, improve and maintain pipelines
  • Provide novel scientific ideas related to cancer biology and immunotherapy
  • Interact with other scientists within CureVac, particularly in oncology research and bioinformatics departments 
  • Development of re-usable code and computational pipelines is part of the work

 

What you bring:

 

  • PhD in bioinformatics, genomics or cancer biology (max. few years of postdoctoral experience)
  • A comprehensive understanding of cancer biology and genome science 
  • Proven track record of building computational solutions with a strong focus on data analysis
  • Proven team skills and high flexibility
  • Deep expertise in various omics technologies
  • Hands-on experience within statistical data analysis, machine learning and big cancer omics datasets
  • Fluent in one or more programming languages, preferably python and R 
  • Fluent in English (written and face to face)
  • Highly motivated, strategically minded and solution-oriented
  • Significant experience as evidenced in peer reviewed
  • Publications / patent submissions
