Scientist (f/m/d) Immunopeptidomics and Protein Mass Spectrometry

Design. Progress. Together.

CureVac SE is a global biopharmaceutical company researching and developing novel drugs based on the natural molecule Messenger RNA (mRNA). Our focus is on prophylactic vaccines, innovative cancer immunotherapies and protein-based therapies. Currently, all RNA people are striving to achieve our main goal: To bring multiple best-in-class mRNA drugs to market.

To strengthen our team in Amsterdam (NL), we are currently looking to recruit a

Scientist (f/m/d) Immunopeptidomics and Protein Mass Spectrometry

CureVac Netherlands B.V. is searching for a motivated and talented scientist with strong expertise in protein mass spectrometry, proteomics analysis and immunopeptidomics.

The newly established and highly innovative Antigen Discovery and Validation Center is located in Amsterdam and encompasses a multi-disciplinary team of genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology and immunology experts.
The primary goal of the team is the identification of cancer antigens as targets for various off-the-shelf and personalized vaccine programs. Further efforts are aimed at broadening the profiling of tumor samples and the tumor micro-environment using a diverse array of omics technologies complemented with immunology assays. Our new scientist will work under the guidance of Senior Director Antigen Discovery and Validation.

What you will do:

  • Build-up expertise in (protein) mass spectrometry within the team, thereby contributing to cancer antigen and biomarker discovery based on proteomics and immunopeptidomics analysis of cancer specimens or models systems

  • Take the lead in setting up the optimal technological basis for protein mass spectrometry and immunopeptidomics, both on the wetlab and computational analysis side.

  • Establishment of proteomics and immunopeptidomics technology and expertise within CureVac

  • Provide novel scientific ideas related to cancer antigen discovery, vaccine design and immunotherapy

  • Interact with other scientists within CureVac, particularly in oncology research and bioinformatics departments

What you bring:

  • PhD in proteomics, immunopeptidomics or cancer

  • biology (max few years of postdoctoral experience)

  • Hands-on expertise with protein mass spectrometry and peptidomics as well as strong (mass-spec) data analysis skills, i.e. experience with analysis software and bioinformatics

  • A comprehensive understanding of cancer biology and genome science

  • Proven track of working with state-of-the-art proteomics and immunopeptidomics mass-spec technologies and data analysis, preferably in an industry environment

  • Proven team skills and high flexibility

  • Fluent in at least one programming language and

  • English (written and face to face)

  • Highly motivated, strategically minded and solution-oriented

  • Significant experience as evidenced in peer reviewed publications / patent submissions
