Scientist (f/m/d) Computational Cancer Genomics

We are searching for an accountable, multitalented scientist to support our Oncology Antigen Discovery and Computational Research team located in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The position is embedded in the Antigen Discovery and Validation department which consists of experts in immunology, cancer genomics, molecular biology and computational science. The primary goal of the Discovery team is to leverage multi-omics data from internal and external sources to identify and prioritize antigens for either personalized or off-the-shelf cancer vaccines.

 

Your Responsibilities:

 

  • Contribute to our antigen discovery pipelines which identify and prioritize tumor antigens for oncology; continuously improve the pipeline modules by integrating newly acquired in-house and public data and novel methodology
  • Stay up to date with state-of-the-art computational methodology and cancer immunology
  • Closely collaborate with the software development team to ensure our algorithms can become compliant and robust for clinical application; maintain high standards of code quality through regular code review
  • Actively support other members of the Antigen Discovery and Validation team and cross-functional projects with other CureVac departments

 

Your Qualifications:

 

  • PhD in a computational field (e.g., computational immunology, systems biology, bioinformatics, genomics, or similar), experience in immuno-oncology is a big plus
  • Proven track record of building bioinformatics methodology and/or data analysis workflows
  • Experience in Linux and preferably also cloud computing environments
  • Well versed in Python and potentially also R
  • Demonstrated experience with good programming practices, including code review, version control (e.g., Git), unit testing, containerization (Docker), and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Prior industry experience is desirable
  • Experience in machine learning/AI development is a plus
  • Proactive attitude with a can-do mentality; ability to work independently as well as in (multidisciplinary) teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, fluency in English
