CureVac AG is a biopharmaceutical company researching and developing novel drugs based on the natural molecule Messenger RNA (mRNA). Director Alliance Management (f/m/d)

We are searching for an experienced, hands-on professional in alliance management with strong project management skills, capable to work cross-functionally across the organization.
In this position you will be a key person responsible for ensuring that major operational partnerships are proactively and effectively managed. Collaborations are a key component of CureVac’s corporate strategy, and this is a high-profile position with significant exposure across the organization.
Achieving this goal requires broad strategic thinking and planning, and an ability to draw insights through a synthesis and integration of complex inputs from internal and external sources.  In addition, excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills, an ability to generate consensus and drive alignment and an ability to interact with individuals of various disciplines are required. The Director Alliance Management reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development and Alliance Management.

Your responsibilities:

  • Work with new and existing partners to ensure achievement of mutual goals within the alliance
  • Effectively managing multiple projects/priorities with an attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and coordinate demands from multiple customers, both internally and with partners. Must be able to handle ambiguity well
  • Establish and execute overall alliance governance, processes and protocols through collaborative dialogue within CureVac and with the partner
  • Assume operational responsibility for joint governance committee operations, for contractual compliance (including information sharing, roles/responsibilities), and for financial processes and controls
  • Partner closely with Program Management leadership to ensure CureVac is prepared for alliance interactions and strategic objectives of the alliance are met
  • Cultivate an effective working relationship and communications between partners
  • Monitor, anticipate and ensure timely resolution of issues. Review with senior management to communicate key issues, milestones and gather feedback
  • Audit the quality of the working relationship including annual “state of the alliance” surveys and periodic lessons learned
  • Assist in business development activities as required in support of the existing key relationships and as appropriate for future partnering efforts
  • Provide regular status updates for CureVac’s Senior Management and provide key information for management decisions

Your qualifications:

  • Degree in natural sciences with knowledge of Molecular biology, Immunology and strong science background in oncology, vaccines, antibodies, or gene therapy preferred
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ of research/development, project management, alliance management, or related experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary development teams (preferably globally) in various stages of drug development (discovery, pre-clinical, clinical, approval, launch)
  • Broad exposure to drug research, development, and commercialization activities, preferably at an international level.  Prior work in proteins and mRNA is a plus
  • Experience leading organizational change and design/implementation of governance bodies
  • Ability to facilitate resolution of complex business problems including fundamentals of financial valuation and structured decision making
  • Excellent interpersonal, networking and communication skills. Highly effective at leading by influence in a matrixed environment
  • Ability to effectively prioritize work across diverse and dynamic set of deliverables
  • Independently motivated, detail oriented and good problem solving ability
  • Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to embrace change and multi-task in an extremely fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of biopharma product development and manufacturing processes including discovery, regulatory, clinical trial, process development and production
  • Driven to achieve quality and timely results in accordance with company goals
  • Very good presentation skills, be able to communicate and present to all audience types
  • Proactive, independent working method combined with the interest and the ability to cooperate and to teamwork
  • Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills
  • Above average motivation, ability to motivate teams and to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with competing priorities
